Following a high-profile ICE raid at a downtown apparel manufacturing business, hundreds of protesters swarmed the Edward R. Roybal Federal Building. Demonstrators threw bottles and rocks at federal agents protecting the facility. In separate actions, a crowd of over 1,000 rioters surrounded a local retail center in Paramount, leading to a tactical police response that caused injuries to several protesters and officers.
Total Regional Economic Impact: The full report detailed more than $1 billion in total economic losses across the Los Angeles area. Rather than physical structural damage, this massive figure was primarily driven by lost productivity, canceled tourism, lost sales and wages, and a sharp pullback in consumer activity as businesses closed and tens of thousands of residents avoided public transit during the enforcement actions and protests.
