POLITICAL LAWFARE
Documented. Evidence-based. Each investigation built entirely on official records, signed documents, and verified evidence. Open the case file. Read the evidence yourself.
A political prosecution is still a prosecution. No Filter America documents the charge, the evidence, and who pulled the trigger — regardless of party.
No Filter America is an independent investigative publication. This case file summarizes information obtained from publicly available records, including federal and state court filings, official government documents, law-enforcement records, publicly released evidence, and other verifiable sources.
Many investigations cover ongoing criminal proceedings.
An indictment, criminal complaint, or arrest affidavit contains allegations made by prosecutors or law-enforcement agencies. These allegations have not been proven in court. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
When a case reaches trial, is dismissed, results in a plea agreement, or concludes with a verdict, the investigation will be updated accordingly.
No Filter America distinguishes between allegations, verified facts, official findings, and editorial analysis. Every effort is made to accurately represent the underlying source documents.

Five Cases. One Calendar Year. One Candidate. Between September 2022 and August 2023 — an eleven-month window — Donald Trump was the subject of five separate major legal actions: one civil fraud lawsuit and four criminal indictments. All were initiated while Trump was the declared leading candidate for the Republican presidential nomination. The documented launch sequence is as follows: September 21, 2022 Letitia James — NY Civil Fraud Complaint filed. Following a multi-year investigation that began in 2019, the NY Attorney General filed a civil business fraud lawsuit against Trump and the Trump Organization. This was the first of the five actions to be filed. April 4, 2023 Alvin Bragg — Manhattan Criminal Indictment. Six months after James, Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg filed the first criminal indictment — 34 felony counts of falsifying New York business records. Trump was the leading candidate for the Republican presidential nomination. June 8, 2023 Jack Smith — Florida Classified Documents. Special Counsel Jack Smith filed the federal classified documents indictment — 38 counts. Trump remained the leading Republican candidate. August 1, 2023 Jack Smith — D.C. Federal Election Interference. Smith filed a second federal indictment — 4 counts of conspiracy and obstruction related to January 6 and the 2020 election. Trump remained the leading Republican candidate. August 14, 2023 Fani Willis — Georgia RICO Indictment. Fulton County DA Fani Willis filed a 98-page RICO indictment — 41 counts, 19 defendants. Five major legal actions filed in eleven months. Trump the leading Republican candidate throughout.

On August 1, 2023 — while Donald Trump was the leading candidate for the Republican presidential nomination — Special Counsel Jack Smith filed a four-count federal indictment in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. The indictment charged Trump with conspiracy to defraud the United States, obstruction of the congressional vote count on January 6, 2021, and conspiracy against rights under a Reconstruction-era civil rights statute. The charges arose from Trump's efforts between the November 2020 election and January 6, 2021, to prevent the certification of electoral votes. Smith's indictment was accompanied by a partially unsealed 1,889-page court appendix containing significant evidence including Mike Pence's handwritten notes, internal White House communications, and documented statements from multiple witnesses.

When Donald Trump departed the White House at noon on January 20, 2021, he took with him scores of cardboard boxes — many containing classified national security documents he had accumulated over four years as president. The documents were transported to his private residence and social club at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida. What followed was an 18-month confrontation between Trump, the National Archives, the FBI, a federal grand jury, and ultimately a Special Counsel — a confrontation documented in surveillance video, text messages, recorded audio, and Trump's own statements to his attorneys. On June 8, 2023, Special Counsel Jack Smith filed a 38-count indictment charging Trump and his personal aide Waltine Nauta with willful retention of national defense information, obstruction of justice, and making false statements. The indictment was based on evidence that included a recorded audio conversation in which Trump explicitly acknowledged he could no longer declassify the document he was showing to civilians — and showed it to them anyway.

On August 14, 2023, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis filed a 98-page indictment charging 19 individuals — including Donald J. Trump — under the Georgia Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. The indictment documented a multi-state criminal enterprise operating between November 2020 and September 2022 with the stated objective of overturning Georgia's certified presidential election results. 161 separate overt acts were documented across Georgia, Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia. Among the acts charged: forging official electoral certificates, breaching voting machine software, intimidating a Fulton County election worker at a police station at night, pressuring the U.S. Attorney General to declare the election corrupt, and soliciting Vice President Pence to violate the Constitution. All facts below are sourced from official court documents.

In April 2023, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr. indicted former President Donald J. Trump on 34 felony counts of Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree. The charges arose from a coordinated scheme — dating to August 2015 — in which Trump directed his attorney Michael Cohen to suppress damaging stories before the 2016 presidential election through a series of payments, non-disclosure agreements, and media manipulation. Cohen paid $130,000 to adult film actress Stormy Daniels eleven days before the election. Trump subsequently reimbursed Cohen through falsified Trump Organization records disguised as legal retainer payments — records Trump personally authorized while serving as President of the United States. On May 30, 2024, a Manhattan jury returned a verdict of guilty on all 34 counts. Trump became the first former U.S. President in American history to be convicted of felony crimes.
